Surgical Scrub Containing 4% Chlorhexidine Gluconate in an Amine Oxide Base

Pre-operative surgical hand disinfection: Wet the hands and forearms, apply 5ml of Mediscrub and wash for one minute, cleaning the fingernails with a brush or scraper. Rinse, then apply a further 5ml and continue to wash for a further 2/3 minutes. Rinse thoroughly & dry.

Antiseptic hand wash on the ward: Wet the hands and forearms, apply 5ml of Mediscrub and wash for one minute. Rinse thoroughly & dry.

Pre-operative skin antisepsis for surgical patients: Wash the whole body (bath or shower) at least twice, usually the day before and the day of the operation as follows: Day before the operation, wash with 25ml of Mediscrub beginning with the facial area, working downwards, to areas around the nose, armpits, belly button (navel), groin and perineum (the space between the genitals and the anus). Rinse and repeat the wash with a further 25ml, this time including the hair. Finally, rinse thoroughly and dry. This procedure should be repeated the following day. Apply the standard bed-bath technique for patients confined to bed.

Passes European BS EN 1276 quantitative suspension test for the evaluation of bactericidal activity of chemical disinfectants and antiseptics used in food, industrial, domestic and institutional areas.

Passes European BS EN 1499 test for the evaluation of bactericidal activity of pre-operative surgical scrubs and antiseptics used in hospital, community medical facilities and in dental institutions.

Mediscrub demonstrates Mycobactericidal activity when tested in accordance with BS EN 14204.

Mediscrub demonstrates efficacy against MRSA when tested in accordance with BS EN 1276.
