Respiratory Aid

RESPIRA AID: Based on Eucalyptus, Menthol, Peppermint and Mint Oil

Respiratory disease in poultry is a major cause of mortality and economic loss in the poultry industry.

Respiratory problems can be triggered following infection by bacteria, viruses, fungi and exposure to allergens. The resultant irritation and inflammation of the respiratory tract rapidly spreads the infection through the flock through sneezing, wheezing and coughing. It is therefore important to pre-empt this and react quickly to alleviate respiratory distress. The build-up of mucus in the respiratory tract severely reduces oxygen intake causing breathlessness, loss of dietary intake and a drop in energy levels of the birds, which has a negative impact on weight gain and egg production.

A strict biosecurity programme using aerial disinfection, and the use of Respira Aid are essential in preventing deterioration in bird health through easing breathing. Soothing of the respiratory tract at the early stages helps limit the spread of respiratory illness through the flock. Good, steady ventilation is also critical over this period to avoid swings in temperature and humidity which cause stress in birds and prevents a build-up of ammonia, a respiratory irritant which can exacerbate respiratory problems.

Respira Aid is highly effective when used at the early stages and alongside any antibiotic treatment, to ease congestion of the airways and relieve respiratory distress. The anti-inflammatory and bronchodilatory properties of natural extracts and essential oils of eucalyptus, menthol & mint have been found to provide essential benefits in protecting bird health during infectious respiratory episodes.
