Quat-Chem Shortlisted for National Awards Alongside Multinational Peers

CIA-Awards-2016Quat-Chem was shortlisted alongside some of the industry’s largest multinationals for three awards in this year’s prestigious Chemical Industry Awards.

The Chemical Industries Association (CIA); the largest industry sector organisation represents chemical and pharmaceutical businesses across the UK. The annual awards ceremony held on Thursday took place in the heart of Liverpool’s St George’s Quarter in St George’s Hall, considered to be one of the finest examples of a neoclassical style building in the world. The event was hosted by BBC Business Correspondent, Steph McGovern.

Earlier this year Quat-Chem set a precedent in winning three awards from Chemicals Northwest association at their annual awards ceremony in March. The Company was awarded the International Trade award for the second consecutive year, as well as the Sustainability Award, and the award for Operational Excellence. The team were particularly delighted; these have been major areas of focus for the Company over the last few years.

Following this success, Quat-Chem was encouraged to enter the CIA awards and was shortlisted in three categories; Innovation, Environmental, and Manufacturing & Resource Efficiency.

“Recognition in these key national award categories is a fantastic achievement,” said Scientific Director, Dr Rubinah Chowdhary. As an SME, Quat-Chem has achieved significant success at home and internationally with the development and promotion of its innovative ranges of biosecurity products.

“Quat-Chem chooses to continue working within a framework of a ‘low environmental impact’ permit. Manufacturing operations are run with tight process controls and are subject to continuous improvement (and in full compliance with current regulations). The Company’s invested significantly in additional premises, plant machinery and equipment in order to increase capacity and facilitate our next stage of growth. These are exciting times for our team” said Dr Rubinah Chowdhary.

“It was a pleasure to celebrate the successes of the UK chemical industry alongside our peers. Whilst we were unsuccessful in winning an award, we are extremely proud to have our name and work recognised alongside multinationals like FMC Chemicals, BASF plc and GlaxoSmithKline. We extend our congratulations to all shortlisted companies who are making significant developments in our industry and a real difference to the world we live in.” said Dr Chowdhary.
