Chemical Compliance Officer
Quat-Chem is a small privately owned chemical company which was founded in 1996 and which exports its products around the world. The Company is growing from strength to strength and, in keeping with its growth plans and objectives, has recently provided substantial investment into additional plant and resources. The prospects for the business and its people are extremely positive and it now needs to fill a new position of Chemical Compliance Officer.
The role is challenging and diverse, and will ideally suit a confident driven individual with a strong background in process chemistry and regulatory affairs.
Fundamental to the role is an understanding of, and responsibility for, European regulations relevant to the chemical industry. With experience in Biocidal Products Regulations, REACH, COSHH, Detergents, CLP, HAZOP, IPPC etc., you will ensure the business maintains statutory and commercial compliance with its requirements. You will also compile product registration dossiers necessary to achieve foreign country product authorisations in accordance with local requirements. It may be that individual products warrant reformulating from time to time to suit varying environments and your background and experience as a chemist will position you to readily undertake laboratory work to this end. Liaison with UK regulatory authorities such as the Environment agency and HSE will be required.
You will also be responsible for implementing supply agreements with the Company’s Customers and those of its Distributors. Inherent in those agreements will be the ability to facilitate Customer requirements to ensure their compliance with the BPR.
You will assume management responsibility for the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and the ISO 9001 Quality Management systems ensuring these are maintained and upgraded to suit the changing circumstances of the business; and are able to readily undergo audit and re-certification as necessary.
You will be a pragmatic, resourceful and important member of the team working directly with management to achieve the objectives of the business. Providing recommendations on compliance, products and systems improvements to management, you will display excellent written and communication skills accompanied by obvious problem-solving abilities.
Qualified to degree level in Chemistry or a related field, you will be an individual who engages well with people, is team focused and self-motivated. Fluency in other languages as well as English would be advantageous.
